Tickled pink

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

Earlier this spring I became involved with a project in downtown Concord. The Endicott Hotel, located on the corner of Main and Pleasant Street Extension, will soon be renovated/ refurbished to full retail apartments through CATCH Neighborhood Housing. Along with three other graduates from NH Institute of Art, we selected the materials, finishes, and lighting as well as offered other details to the design of this renovation.

After several months of hurdle jumping (of which I was fortunately spared), I am very excited to say that things are moving forward. In fact! not only are we nearly ready to go to bid, but the 1st floor retail space is now giving credit to those involved. Even more exciting, the snazzy illustration shown was created by yours truly.

To give you an idea of the history behind this building, here is a picture I found of the Endicott Hotel circa 1930.

Here it is 2012…

And here we are! (Please ignore the silly photographer and her pink phone…)

Just in case you wanted to see it a bit clearer…

I’ll be sure to keep you posted as things progress!

Get out

This time of year we’re hitting the road nearly every chance we get. Camping, hiking, kayaking, swimming, fishing - you name it. Truth be told, I still have two bundles of firewood in my car! With a sufficient supply of sunscreen and bugspray, nothing can stand in our way (except perhaps the responsibiltiy that arrives with Monday morning).

So how will YOU spend your summer?

J’adore

I love le Tour de France. Honest to goodness, it’s true. I’m not sure my fiance is entirely convinced, though. He thinks I’m merely tolerating his obsession for the sport, but I’m totally into it. Not only are these athletes the definition of hardcore with ridiculous endurance, but the race covers one of the most lovely countrysides imaginable. I love listening to Phil Liggett, Paul Sherwen, and the endearing antics of Bob Roll. I love exploring flowering European fields, cobblestone villages, and sprawling estates of incredible architecture. Dreamy… And then there is the excitment and drama of the race!!!! Love it!
