As 2019 draws to a close, so will this series of Inspiration is Everywhere. I have had SO much fun creating these design concepts – who knows, you may just see supplemental posts created throughout the new year. Design is vastly more than trying to copy what you see on Pinterest, Instagram, or HGTV, and I have stretched myself stylistically month after month to emphasize that point. Hopefully this exercise has helped others see their spaces in a new way.
Last but not least, I present you with December’s sophisticated “Winter Garden” library/den.
Our concept echoes the elegance of our inspiration with traditional lines, symmetry, and a grayscale palette warmed with sand and umber accents. A charcoal area rug anchors the classic and beautifully distressed leather sofa – a handsome balance of masculinity partnered with the delicate floral. Time-honored details abound between the turned armchair, stunning antique drop front desk, gilded scroll mirror, and charming female portrait. A bookcase featuring oversized handles, 3-legged side table, and tonal ikat pillow add modern touches to help keep a down-to-earth quality to the space. The sculpted topiary, orchid, and horse statue incorporate a sense of history in perfect step with our garden inspiration. Gray walls are softened by luxurious velvet drapes to create a space that is sensibly sophisticated, elegant, and refined.
